A strong commitment to customer service was developed over nine years at Hilton International Hotels where we worked in Canada and the U.S. in the area of food & beverage management in the 1980's.
Since moving to the seniors housing sector in 1989, Richard has led teams in the service of tens of thousands of seniors and their families throughout North America.
As a co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Chartwell Seniors Housing REIT from 2003 – 2011, he was directly responsible for the management of over 300 retirement residences and long-term care facilities in Canada and the US.
Richard brings a wide range of experience with seniors' services and housing to Help For Mom as it strives to assist with families with the best possible options for their individual needs.
Mary Wideman, Regional Director GTHA Help for Mom
Mary has 15+ years of seniors housing experience including progressive positions with three of the largest seniors housing operators in Canada.
Mary’s roles have ranged from Executive Director at Sunrise Senior Living to Lifestyle Manager with Revera to Marketing Manager at Chartwell Seniors Housing REIT.
Mary also spent several years as an independent business owner/operator.
Fred Schleich, Director of Help For Mom & Founder and President of Care Planning Partners Inc.
Fred has consulted to the seniors' housing and care industry since 1990, founded Care Planning Partners in the fall of 1993 to consult to the industry and launched the Care Guide.com, the first seniors consumer web site in 1996, followed by the published Care Guide in 2003.
A thorough knowledge of the seniors' housing market was gained through annual surveys of the industry in Ontario, followed by Alberta and British Columbia, a survey of retirement homes in 2006 for Ontario’s Ministry of Health and Long Term Care as part of their regulation of the industry and the completion of over 1,700 feasibility studies in markets across Canada from Newfoundland and Labrador to Victoria.
Fred is a Chartered Professional Accountant and a graduate of the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science degree. Fred was in public accounting for ten years, and served as Senior Vice President, Treasurer and Director at Walwyn Inc., the first Canadian Investment dealer to go public, for ten years before entering the senior housing industry.
Fred was also President and a Director of The White Light Hospice Foundation (1991 to 1999), a charitable foundation dedicated to establishing a free standing in-patient hospice for terminally ill cancer patients, and as president was instrumental in starting a respite and day care hospice.
Tony Mclean, Director of Help For Mom
Tony brings 25 years of experience in Canadian seniors housing and care programs. With his industry knowledge and experience he provides Help for Mom with expert advice to help us assist our clients and our partners.
Tony is also the president and CEO of National CareHomes Inc. which provides consulting services to owners, operators and developers of seniors housing and care programs. With Tony's knowledge of the Canadian health care he advises developers and operators on program needs and care partnership strategies.
Tony was part of the IPO team in the founding of Chartwell Seniors Housing REIT in 2003. In his roles with the REIT and Spectrum Seniors Housing Development, Tony helped identify new opportunities and strategies for the development of a successful portfolio of seniors housing projects across Canada.
Prior to 2003, Tony was Senior Vice President, Business Development for the Devoncare and Chartwell Care Corporations, which grew to become the largest third party manager of seniors housing in Canada.
Prior to 1999, Tony was a partner in the TGEA Group, which specialized in workouts of retirement home and long-term care properties in receivership, President of National Elder Care a for-profit home care service and President of Communicaide, a marketing, public relations and organizational support company specializing in the Canadian health care sector.
